Weekly Objectives.
If you want to be a Mythic raider, here are the things you should be doing each week (and some just overall) at a minimum to improve your character and keep up with Legion's fast pace.
|
- Weekly high Mythic + key: Along with new patches, Blizzard gives a maximum level key that will provide a certain titanforged piece of gear from that key difficulty. For example, this is currently set at a +10 key and rewards a 905 item level item in your box the next week when you open it, along with a keystone matching the difficulty of key you did the previous week.
- You should try your best to use group finder to run your own key and keys with others to get as high as you can. Keep in mind, it might be more beneficial to run several lower level keys for gear and artifact power vs. fewer very high level keys that you may struggle with. Your character might not be able to run +10 keys yet, and typically those listing them in group finder are selective with who they invite.
- Keep grinding lower keys you can get into until you can perform well enough and have good enough gear to get invited to higher keys. Ask in guild chat for people to run keys with you, most people will help you complete your key.
- All raids available to you that could potentially provide upgrades and beneficial practice/exposure to fights and mechanics: Do each difficulty of current raids that is available to you. Raid bosses have good chances to drop legendaries that may make or break your chances at doing very good DPS (depending on your class), and tier sets are an important DPS gain. Sign up on the guild calendar for the weekly Heroic or Normal raid that is available to casuals and alts, and do your best. This is a great way to expose raid leaders to your now-improving performance, and to practice mechanics, and gain gear.
- Just because the guild doesn't offer a guild run of whichever difficulty, doesn't mean you can't do it. Use the raid section of group finder to find groups that are running the raid you are looking for. Dying a lot to a certain mechanic? Watch videos of that fight on YouTube. Main raiders are expected to know what the fight looks like, and understand it's mechanics BEFORE entering a raid.
- Higher difficulty raids are for executing and learning how to best perform our roles in that raid, not for learning what the boss does when it hits 50% health, etc. and in certain cases, your performance and understanding of these mechanics can determine whether or not you'll get to participate in the kill (and get the loot from it!) with the group.
- If your weapon isn't at least at 52 traits - world quests and artifact power grind: Raids, weekly heroic dungeons in the group finder, and mythic plus are great ways to get artifact power to obtain more weapon traits, but world quests provide a great opportunity for artifact power as well. If you're really trying to catch up, you can do your best to complete every artifact power world quest available to you every day. Your weapon should be upgraded to include all new traits to be considered for Mythic raid - including Concordance, and you should be farming additional artifact power to continue putting points in Concordance.
- Weekly quests in Dalaran: Weekly quests are available in Dalaran and are listed on the WoW calendar. These often provide valuable items, like a free seal of broken fate, a substantial artifact power token, a cache containing a raid piece of gear, or other niche valuables.
- Seals of broken fate: Seals of broken fate are available near the weekly quest NPC in Dalaran. You can purchase 3 per week, and can hold a maximum of 6 at one time. It's recommended to use these on raid bosses of the highest difficulty you will do that week. Check the boss' loot table and determine which pieces of gear you are aiming to get that week. If you don't get the item from that boss, it may be the right time to use it. Use these seals sparingly, but where they have the most potential to drop a piece of gear that will improve your character.
- World bosses: World bosses provide gear upgrades to lower item-level characters, but are an important good chance at a legendary drop. World bosses appear like a purple colored world quest on your map, and Broken Shore has world bosses rarely that drop higher item-level gear than normal Broken Isles world bosses.
- Emissary caches: Emissary caches are another example of a way to obtain artifact power, reputation, and have a chance to drop a legendary item. You should do all of these when they are available to you.
- Consumable farming/purchasing: You should plan to use consumables - flask, food, potions on raid bosses in difficulties that are challenging to you. You may want to farm the materials for them, or simply buy them from the auction house or from a guild member to have them before you enter the raid.
