Performance Analysis.
There are a number of ways to analyze your personal performance. You can compare your DPS to your simulated DPS (SimCraft result). SimCraft will give you a good idea of the baseline of if you were performing your rotation very well, how much DPS you would do. Remember - SimCraft will (unless you have otherwise customized it) use the recommended consumables (flask, food, potions) that are best-recommended for your class - if you are not buffed by these when comparing, you will see lower numbers on your personal meter.
Mythic raiders also typically use logs, either of their own performance in raid, or of other players of their spec. Warcraftlogs.com is the go-to website for this. In main raider Heroic raid and in Mythic, raid leaders will log the fights and link them in our Discord channel "Raid."
If you wish to log your own performance, read this guide on how to use it: www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/4392-warcraft-logs-a-comprehensive-guide/
You can also search for other characters who are the best at your spec, and view almost any metric for any fight on any difficulty to see how other characters are performing, what gear they are wearing, what talents they have chosen and so much more. You can search for your own character (if they have ever been logged) to view your own performance based on difficulty, boss, and compare yourself to other of your itemlevel or spec on that fight with percentiles.
Addons like Skada or Recount are highly recommended - if you don't have a DPS/HPS meter, you simply don't know how well you are performing. Again, these can be downloaded with the Twitch client. Most of our raiders use Skada over Recount.
Practice your rotation on training dummies and read your Skada. Try to notice which skills are doing more damage and which do short windows of damage versus overall damage done to the dummy. Compare this to others of your spec - what skills can you benefit from a greater understanding of to maximize your performance? Do you frequently mess up your opener? Practice, practice, practice this until you almost never make mistakes.
